The meeting was called to order by Jamie Gaabo. Thank you Wayne for the wonderful Low Country Boil (also known as Beaufort Stew or Frogmore Stew). Thank you volunteers for making this project possible!
Treasurer’s Report: Gloria announced that income and expenses were both up this year but we would end the year with about the same amount of funds. She announced all materials must be saved from this year to reduce our expenses for next year. She recommended and the motion was passed and second to give another donation to the turtle hospital at the aquarium. A certificate for the donation in honor of the fire department was displayed and Gloria agreed to frame and present to the fire department.
Duane:
The 2007 season results were a 24% increase with eggs being a 21% increase. The details of all the results will be e-mail to all the members by Duane. Thank you Duane for such detailed record keeping.

The release of Mr. Edisto on Folly Beach was cool. Even though we did not get to release him on Edisto it is all about the turtles and we must think of the trauma to the turtles on the long drive. You can follow the release at

The lighting issue for Edisto remains a problem but with the help of DNR and Fish & Wildlife's Rebecca Elliott we will continue to address the problem and next year we hope to make it even better. There will be a coordinator meeting in Mid November that Duane and Jamie will attend and address all the issues for this year and discuss plans for next session. Jamie announced the officers for the turtle patrol and asked if there were any floor nominations. Being no new nominations or volunteers our officers will be the same for 2008 as follows:

New Business:

amie suggested that we design a new T-shirt like the patrol T-shirt and give to the volunteers so they will be more noticeable on the beach. The motion was made and seconded for her to go ahead with year-end funds and order the T-shirts.
Also, for educational purposes Jamie showed several suggestions: door knobs, bumper stickers, restaurant table stands. These went over well with the group and we should have some new educational materials available to increase our education of protecting our loggerheads on Edisto Beach.
Our next scheduled event is the Christmas Parade. Jamie encouraged everyone to put their name on the sign-up sheet for the float committee. She guaranteed you would have a wonderful time. This year's theme: "Christmas Island". Lindsey Young of Edisto Watersports has donated the trailer and Becky Rose has donated her yellow mobile to pulled the trailer. Everyone is encouraged to join the committee on Saturday, November 24th so we may continue to be the largest group marching in the parade.
Gloria Zeller provided a prayer reminding every one of how lucky we are to share our wonderful beach with these gentle giants. She also told the group that next year will be the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Edisto turtle project group
